After taking a digital communication course, 12-13 years after the MS FrontPage, i found out that building a website has changed dramatically. in MS FP i remember using tables without outlines to position tabs, banner, text, images, etc. it was a hastle to design every element of the website, no to mention the bright monitors that makes you see spots after half hour of staring. Now, there are tons of apps and website dedicated to web design and it is all with easy drag-and-drop in pre-designed themes and templates. it is so easy to set up a website nowadays that anyone can use it without taking courses.
Getting a domain require a payment but free website builders will have their website address in the URL of the customer which is good for them as a marketing tool but doesnt look professional nor personal when it is related to the builder
it was a great learning curve to see how technology changed over the past 10 years. now i am going to build my own website to sell stuff or start a B2B company.
Here are screenshot of the website i designed on wix.com about fashion in Victoria and Vancouver, Canada with pictures of me and my friends. http://myrrumoodle.wix.com/vvfchn

Obsolescence
Greetings readers. It has been a while since I blogged. So let's get started.
On my way to China to see my family a few days ago, I watched a number of documentaries (not movies like the majority of the passengers) and I came across an interesting one titled "The men who made us spend". it was mind blowing documentary that showed how big company position themselves very strategicly inside their consumers' head, making them feel the NEED to get their hands FIRST on their product. logically some new products dont look much differently but the colour but the company did so well with its marketing campaign to make a lot of consumer obsessed with having it first.
Here is a link for the first part of the documentary i found on YouTube. Enjoy!

travel journal
travel journal is an application designed for Apple computers. it is focused on a certain type of travelers who prefer typing to record their thoughts and add pictures to it. just like the old days when people used the type writing machine, they had other options but they chose that, and that is why some may choose this application to journal.
The application allows photo, location, and contacts sharing. it is not available for the iOS yet. it was launched on Nov 19, 2014.

Web design 0.1
My journy with designing website started in grade 6. i was (and maybe still) stubborn. My dad signed me and my brother up to take courses in the local community centre an i think it was in 2002. MS FrontPage was the program i studied. In the beginning i did not like it at all but after the first class i was amazed by how websites are actually done. we didnt study about web 1.0 or 2.0. the focus was mainly on design. After the end of the first level i moved to the advance level to upload the website to a host site and i still remember it, 50migs.com.

Session 3
In the thrid session of the course of IHMN 301 we learned about social media. social media is very important in communication nowadays. marketing through it has become a crucial step for companies to reach their market faster and more conveniently. and because digital data can be filtered to certain clusters from users information, it become easier to understand consumer behaviour when conducting a marketing strategy or any business plan.
Different social media platform has different purposes. Some are not as common as others like Facebook and Pinterest.
The session was one of the most interesting so far this year because we watched a lot of videos that help us to understand the academic material. Videos are more attractive than lecture because they have visuals and audible content that reach to my senses and have greater impact on increasing my education and knowledge rather than a typical class lecture. both methods will have the same topic but the approach is difference maker.
i wish more teacher adapt this entertaining and more beneficial, in my view, method of teaching.

Session 1
In my first year program I took a course in Technology (TECH101) with Robert Aucion. In one his classes he mentioned that the internet, as a business idea, was not ment to success, but it did.
And it was developed as a communication tool between the US military and scientists. if the military needed research information about a particular subject they haven't done yet they would reach through the internet to the scientist and see if they have any, more like a sharing network. (correct me if I was Wrong).
The development of Web 2.0 was very important for the tourism industry. Communications between consumers and business become more convenient and generated money. it has made a lot of changes to both sides. the word of mouth is now broader. when a customer reviews a product on Yelp or Google, it is exposed to the rest of the world. however, some operators may take an unethical rout and create fake reviews for the sake of attracting more people.
